We have been very busy here at the Boys and Girls Club during National Boys and Girls club Week!
On Monday, we started things off with blueberry waffles in the morning and followed that up with battleship and basketball tournaments. Members had mummy making competitions where members were put into teams and had to wrap one member in toilet paper making them look like a mummy. We followed this up with our Things That Can Fly Series where members were able to learn about and fly kites.
On Tuesday, members had the chance to participate in a three point contest where Xavier Storay and Noel Taylor won and received medals. Members played Mario Bros tournaments in the games room and played an assortment of high yield activities in the gym. As part of our Things That Can Fly Series, members created and flew gliders.
On Wednesday, members and staff wore their clothes backwards for Backwards Day in honor of April Fool's Day. We then went outside for fun in the sun and played football and jumped jump rope. As the day progressed, members participated in the Staff vs. members Relay race where staff took first place. The second place winners were BJ, Syrron, Michael, Gio and Zackery. Great job to all who participated in this activity. We then had members participate in the Mentos and Diet Coke Experiment and followed that up with Superhero Trivia.
On Thursday, members had the opportunity to participate in the Pokemon tournament for a grand prize as well as create gac (slime) and make their own Popsicles. Members also participated in several track and field competitions. Our teens had the chance to participate in Career Day with Coca-Cola where they learned about careers and practiced their interview skills.
On Friday, members had the chance to decorate Easter eggs, play Easter themed games and participate in an Easter Egg Hunt! Our teens had the opportunity to take part in Career Day at Better State Trust Bank where they learned about specific careers in finance. We ended our week with our Things That Can Fly Series where members were able to watch rockets being launched. Overall, it was a fun and exciting week!
